We are committed to educating and preparing the next generation of sports-minded students to dream beyond the game.
Diversity Within the Sports Industry
Fostering a culture of inclusivity and excellence in sports
Our FPA Academy exposes high school students to the wide range of professional opportunities available in pro football, beyond just being players. Through this initiative, participants receive training, mentorship, and hands-on learning experiences related to coaching, scouting, management, and other roles. We are invested in developing the pipeline of diverse talent who are interested in one day working for NFL teams or related organizations.

The Fritz Pollard Alliance Academy Draft Breakfast is a prestigious event dedicated to celebrating and honoring individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to promoting diversity within the sports industry. This annual gathering not only recognizes the trailblazers of today but also lays the foundation for the leaders of tomorrow.
Launching the Fritz Pollard Alliance Jr. Academy
This year’s event marks the exciting launch of the Fritz Pollard Alliance Jr. Academy. As part of this initiative, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will officially draft fourteen exceptional 9th-grade student-athletes who have excelled in academics, community service, and sports. These young men and women will be named Fritz Pollard Alliance Jr. Academy Ambassadors of the Detroit Lions.
“We are committed to educating and preparing the next generation of sports-minded students to dream beyond the game,” said Rod Graves, Executive Director of the Fritz Pollard Alliance.
As Ambassadors, these students will have the unique opportunity to engage with various sports-related careers and experiences throughout the season, fostering their growth and development both on and off the field.
