The Fritz Pollard Alliance (FPA) exists to advance inclusion and equitable access to leadership opportunities across the professional football ecosystem.
We work to ensure that hiring, advancement, and decision-making processes for career opportunities both on and off the field are open, fair, and inclusive, so that the leadership of the game reflects the excellence, talent, and diversity of the sport itself.
Through career development support, advocacy, partnership, and accountability, we promote systems that expand opportunity and strengthen the leadership pipeline across the National Football League (NFL).
Who We Are
Founded in 2003 by a coalition of scouts, coaches, and front-office executives, the FPA was established to champion fair and equitable access to career opportunities in professional football.
The organization is named for Fritz Pollard, the first African American head coach in the NFL in 1921 and a trailblazer whose legacy represents courage, excellence, and perseverance in the face of exclusion.
While the game has evolved dramatically over the past century, ensuring broad access to leadership roles remains an ongoing priority. The FPA exists to help the sport live up to its highest ideals: strengthening pathways, expanding visibility, and supporting qualified talent at every stage of the leadership journey.
